Ficamos apenas uma noite em Jodhpur, num hotel de família. Fomos recebidos pelos avós com poucas palavras de inglês, mas muita hospitalidade indiana. As crianças brincavam enquanto ajudavam. Jantamos no telhado, com o forte escurecido pela noite como pano de fundo.
De manhã, no mesmo telhado, tomamos o pequeno-almoço e Jodhpur abriu-se para nós.
O que nos marcou foi o azul. Intenso, claro, marinho, céu. Cada casa tinha o seu. E o forte erguia-se de um mar de ruas e habitações. Não é à toa que lhe chamam a "blue city".
O calor seco do deserto já se sentia na pele. Refugiamo-nos brevemente num antigo poço de escadas, cheio de peixes e uma tímida tartaruga, antes de seguir para o forte.
Detalhes minunciosos cobrem o forte de Mehrangarh. A rica história deste lugar está repleta de homens de bigode, guerras, e muitas caças ao tigre. Mas também de amor, festas, e lendas.

We only stayed one night in Jodhpur, in a family hotel. We were welcomed by the grandparents with few words of English but lots of Indian hospitality. The children played while helping. We had dinner on the roof, with the fort darkened by night as a backdrop.
In the morning, on the same roof, we had breakfast and Jodhpur opened up to us. The blue blew us away. Intense, light, marine, sky. Each house had its own. And the fort rose from a sea of streets and houses. It's not for nothing they call it the "blue city".
Our skin felt the dry heat of the desert. We briefly took refuge in an old stairwell, full of fish and a shy turtle, before heading to the fort.
Meticulous details cover the Mehrangarh Fort. The rich history of this place is full of mustachioed men, wars, and countless tiger hunts. But also of love, parties, and legends.
